Bhadradri-Kothagudem Forest Officer Stresses Biodiversity Protection

Nalgonda: Bhadradri-Kothagudem district forest officer G. Kista Goud on Thursday stressed the need for forest diversification, ecological restoration and biodiversity protection. Addressing a communities eco-activities meeting organised by ITC Bhadrachalam at its premises, he called for collective efforts to conserve natural resources, strengthen green cover and safeguard wildlife habitats. He urged community participation in environmental conservation and sustainable land management, and asked local groups to create awareness against littering in parks, streets and water bodies to prevent pollution.

New drinking water supply scheme for Kothagudem with Rs 124.48 crore

Kothagudem: In order to address shortage of drinking water supply to the residents in Kothagudem municipality and surrounding areas, a new drinking water supply scheme has been proposed. It might be noted that at present water is being supplied from Kinnerasani reservoir in Paloncha mandal to the town. But the water supply often gets affected due to frequent repairs to pipelines. To find a permanent solution to the problem the new water supply system is proposed with Rs.124.48 crore. According to Kothagudem MLA K Sambasiva Rao, 150 km long new pipelines would be laid from Kinnerasani to Kothagudem as part of the new water supply system in the municipality and other areas.

Telangana officials abstain from governor’s visit to Bhadrachalam

The controversy over denial of protocol to Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan refuses to simmer down as on Monday, top officials of the Bhadradri Kothagudem district abstained from her two-day tour to the temple town of Bhadrachalam. Having faced the bitter experience of being denied a helicopter facility by the state government in the past, the governor travelled by Secunderabad – Manugur Superfast Express train in a special saloon arranged for her. From there, she travelled to Bhadrachalam by car. At the railway station, the governor was not received by Bhadradri-Kothagudem collector Anudeep Durishetty and superintendent of police (SP) Sunil Dutt as per the protocol. Only additional collector of Kothagudem K Venkateshwarlu, besides senior officials of the South Central Railway were present at the station. Later, Tamilisai took part in the celestial ceremony of Sri Rama Pattabhishekam (coronation of Lord Rama) at the Lord Sri Ram temple at Bhadradri. The governor also offered silk clothes to the deities on the auspicious occasion. Earlier, she had the darshan of the presiding deities at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and offered prayers.

Kothagudem police playing key role in preventing ganja smuggling: SP Rohith Raju

Kothagudem: The district police have prevented smuggling of nearly 5000 kg of ganja in the past six months, informed Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju. The SP along with district Collector Jithesh V Patil participated in an awareness rally here on Wednesday marking Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day. He administered a pledge for the participants to work for a drug-free society on the occasion. Rohith Raju said that the district police was effectively dealing with the illegal transportation of ganja through the district, which borders the States of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. More than 30,000 kg of seized ganja has been burnt in the district so far. Kothagudem district has become a pioneer in Telangana state with the efforts of the district police in preventing the transportation of ganja, the SP added. Collector Patil said that the role of the police department was very important in preventing narcotics drugs smuggling in the district. Parents and teachers should keep an eye on what the children are doing and everyone should work hard for a drug-free society in Telangana.

Flood threat looms over several villages in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district as Godavari continues to swell

As many as 13 villages, including 10 in Dummugudem mandal and three in Charla mandal, are facing flood threat with the Godavari river and its tributaries in spate in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The river continued to flow above the second flood warning level of 48 feet at Bhadrachalam following copious inflows from the upstream reservoirs, mainly the Taliperu project. The water level in the river in the temple town hovered around 49.70 feet at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector’s wife delivers baby boy at CHC in Palvancha

Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector Jitesh V. Patil and his wife Shraddha Patil opted for the government-run Community Health Centre (CHC) in Palvancha for the birth of their child. Ms. Patil was admitted to the CHC around 8 a.m. on Wednesday and delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 3.2 kg through a caesarean section at around 10 a.m., according to Dr. Ravi Babu, District Coordinator for Health Services. Both mother and child are reported to be doing well.

Tummala irked over bridge works delay

Bhadrachalam: Minister for Agricultural and Marketing Tummala Nageswara Rao on Sunday visited Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. He was received by District Collector Dr Priyanaka Ala, SP Dr Vineeth and officers. Earlier he received guard of honour from the police at ITC BPL Guest House at Sarapaka. The minister took up the pending issues of the district with Collector and SP and other department officers. Later, he inspected the second bridge construction works in Bhadrachalam along with NHAI engineers and officials. He expressed disappointment at the pace of works. The new bridge foundation was laid by Union National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in 2015 when Tummala was the Minister of Roads and Buildings. The project cost was estimated to be around Rs 100 crore at that time. However, since then there has not been any progress and the works have stalled. People had complained against contractors’ laxity about the completion of works, but officials and the government did not pay attention to the issue. After the formation of Congress government in the state, Tummala has been playing a key role and laying focus on the resolution of pending issues. The minister ordered the officials to complete the works by February and ensure its inauguration. It should be ready by Sri Rama Namvami festival, he added. The minister also sought the expansion of the road between Bhadrachalam and Ibrahim Patnam (NH221) for a stretch of around 165 km. He spoke with National Highway region manager Kushwa about issue. He also said he would meet Gadkari on various road works soon.
