Kothagudem: The District Police Annual Sports Meet got underway on a grand note at the district police headquarters, Hemachandrapuram here on Saturday. Superintendent of Police Dr. Vineeth G along with former Indian national volleyball player Paladugu Venkateshwar Rao, additional SP (Operations) T Sai Manohar, Bhadrachalam ASP Paritosh Pankaj and others launched the sports meet by releasing pigeons and balloons in the air.
Kothagudem: Gone are the days when government-run educational institutions, especially residential ones, were notorious for pathetic infrastructure and lack of quality in academics.Sports Now, with the Telangana government laying emphasis on quality education and better infrastructure, government educational institutions have turned into centres of excellence and are competing with corporate educational institutions in terms of standards.
Kothagudem: Summer sports coaching camps being organised by the Youth Services and Sports Department in association with sports associations and sports enthusiasts have been attracting youngsters. Cricket is the most favourite game among the youngsters if the number of girls and boys registered for a free coaching camp underway at Pragathi Maidan is any indication. As many as 285 girls and boys registered for the coaching being offered by Bhadradri Kothagudem District Cricket Association (BKDCA) in association with the department.
Kothagudem: The 4th State Level Tribal Games and Sports Meet-2024 got underway in a festive atmosphere at Ahram Sports School at Kinnerasani of Paloncha mandal in the district on Thursday.Sports As many as 2000 athletes from four ITDAs in the State were taking part in the three-day event. Aswaraopet and Wyra MLAs Jare Adinarayana and Malothu Ramdasu Naik, district Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala, Bhadrachalam ITDA project officer Prateek Jain launched the sports meet.
Kothagudem: With the State government giving priority to games and sports promotion in Telangana, sports infrastructure is getting a boost in Kothagudem. The newest addition to existing sports fields is a futsal court developed at Rajiv Park in the town with an expenditure of Rs 40 lakh. Futsal is a FIFA-recognised form of football-based small-sided game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch. The futsal court has a synthetic pitch. The connection between football and futsal is, futsal techniques are used in training football teams, especially the beginners, across the world. It helps develop a more technical style of play among the players.
